I believe that what makes us who we are is what we have experienced in our own lives, and if I want to share it on this message board, I will. You dont like it, take it with a grain of salt. I dont care.
Second, when I said the line that you seem to have such a problem with "I work hard for what I have and everyone else should too," who says I was referring to minorities? EVERYONE does not mean minorities...it means black, white, asian, purple, whatever, should work for what they got. Do I give a shit if you are on affirmative action? YES I DO because I care about this class and the people in it. I want to know your story and why you are who you are today because I respect you as a person and I like to know what makes people tick. Would you stop being so god-damn self conscious? Everything is NOT directed at you as much as you would like to beleive that it is.
That story I told about my moms boyfriend (and no hes not with us anymore) was NOT for sympathy..it was to share with everyone in this class (The people that actually care about everyone elses experiences) what I have been through, and how I have experienced racism by my own race for not being racist! Imagine the irony!
I contribute to this class what I know, what I have lived, and what I am familiar with. And I am willing to hear everyone out and know their stories too. Sorry if you cant appreciate that.
