I think Prof. Pearson said it best when she said my view on the racial/gender issues is "Don't whine." That truly is my stance. Not that I don't want to hear the stories, I actually love hearing stories no matter what the subject. But I think that's what's going to move us beyond the finger pointing. Finger pointing won't get us anywhere. What would the outcome be if every green person said, "OK, it's all my fault." What would happen? We'd all have hurt somewhere inside of us, we'd all have stories that we want to tell. Taking or giving the blame won't fix anything. I really think that a lot of the talk about these issues is trying to change someone's point of view. I think that one can only change their own mind, no one can do it for them. Simply laying the stories on the table and allowing everyone to make their own decision is all that we can do. Hostility gets us no where. Rational decisions are not made during frustration. Maybe this all meant nothing, but I felt like rambling for a bit. Sorry about the green people thing but I didn't want to start Round 3.
