I wanted to share with you guys an experience I just had about a half hour ago. All new employees of the Trenton Times within the past year were required to attend a meeting about sexual harassment where we were taught about the policy the Times had on it, and what we should do if we experience it. I want to explain the audience. It was me, one other male and seven women. And for a while I was the only man in the room, the other one came in late and didn't even get to hear the comment i am going to talk about.
The woman in charge of the meeting started out by saying "we'll talk about general and sexual harassment, and there is a difference." Then one of the women attending the meeting said, "Yeah one is more fun than the other." My question to all of you is, why doesn't that woman face some kind of punishment? Understand, that every woman in that room laughed when she made that comment. I didn't even smurk. But I have no doubts that if I was the one who said that, I would have gotten in trouble, maybe even fired given the situation and reason why we were all sitting in that room. Sexual harassment awareness and that woman was the most unaware person working at the Trenton Times.
