I just want to say that I thought it was very awkward today in class. It seemed like everyone was afraid to say anything because of what has been going on on the message board. I could see that Jeanine was upset about how its not her fault that she would get better medical care, drugs, etc, because I feel the same way. Im not accusing anyone in the class of suggesting this, but it's almost like white people have to apologize for being white. We're always made to feel guilty for what goes on in this country, such as racism, even if it isn't in direct connection to us, and it sucks. I'm not going to apologize to ANYONE for being white. That it what I am as much as any minority argues that being of their race is what they are. We get treated like shit because of our race too, you know. I mean, an example would be our very own dining services here on campus. The workers here are predominantly black, and a lot of them are very nice, but there have been several occaisions where I've stood behind a black student in line at the register, and the cashier told them their total, said thank you and have a nice day. When I get up to pay, they rolled their eyes at me and didnt say shit to me. Is it because I'm white? I'll never really know, but I had a feeling that was it. Now, am I gonna sit around a bitch about it? NO. I've got too much else to do. But the fact of the matter is that you cannot paste labels onto entire races because of a few experiences with a few ignorant assholes.
