I, too, feel that affirmative action promotes racism. Think about it: if someone new, who happens to be of a minority group , is hired to a company, why wouldn't everyone in that company be wondering if the only reason that person was hired is because of their race and not based on their abilities? I know that I would think it, just because of the unfairness of affirmative action. I mean, yes, places of employment should be diverse and diversity adds to the richness of cultures, but should is the key word here. Lets be honest, is affirmative action really the way to go about it? I think people should be hired on the basis of their abilities and not on their race or their gender, but you know what? Its not happening on its own, and affirmative action really isn't either. So it appears to be a catch-22.
