I was the writer of that post, and yes, I am white. (Im a "she" also..LOL) Anyway, the reason that I thought that the "stomper" was white is because I have a tendency to associate certain crimes with certain perpetrators. That's just the way that things have been from me reading about certain crimes and who did them. It may not be right, but hell, we want honesty in this class so here it is. Most of the time, when you hear a case about cruelty to animals, the perp is white. I did a whole paper on the subject last year, and all the offenders were white. That might have something to do with it. Now, if I read about a seven-eleven getting robbed in west trenton, I would probably at first think of the suspect a black male. I dont know that it has anything to do with familiarity, because plenty of families who are not white own pets, but rather the way my perceptions have been shaped by the media.
