Fragments by Amy E. Stein

My former student, Amy Stein MSW (TSC '92), has an exciting new book: Fragments: Coping With Attention Deficit Disorder. (Haworth Press.) Amy has combined the lessons of her personal and professional experience to create an innovative and effective new approach to helping people diagnosed with ADD achieve academic and personal success. Her experiential approach to education merits the attention of the entire education establishment. Check it out Amazon.com, or at Barnes and Nobles.

It's a New Semester and a New Day

I confess to having been remiss in updating this website, having devoted more attention of late to my blog, Professor Kim's News Notes, and my non-TCNJ site, KimPearson.net. But there is exciting TCNJ news to tell.

Microsoft Games Curriculum

I am part of a team of faculty responsible for the development, implementation and assessment of an innovative curriculum to teach students how to make videogames. The project is underwritten by a grant from Microsoft Corporation, and it has afforded me the opportunity to work with some very creative and talented people from departments and programs across the College, including: Computer Science, Art, Communications Studies, Music, and of course, Interactive Multimedia. One of our Political Science professors is also coming on board. In addition to the curriculum, we plan to build an online multi-player game with our students that will be accessible via the Web, and will be in the public domain. My role involves teaching modules on interactive storytelling, project management and the social and ethical issues associated with gaming. I'll also be helping with the development of an assessment  plan and the building of the project website.
